Behind every dancer is a mom cheering from the audience, helping with costume changes, driving to rehearsals, wiping away tears, and celebrating every small victory along the way. Thank you for being our biggest supporters, our loudest cheerleaders, and such an important part of the MDC family.

As we begin closing out another unforgettable season, the studio has been filled with so many special moments that we can’t wait to share with you. From heartwarming events to fun class recaps and staff spotlights, there’s always something happening inside the MDC family.

In this week’s edition, we’re looking back on our Mommy & Me Barre class a sweet morning filled with movement, laughter, and quality time celebrating the incredible moms who support our dancers every single day. We’re also highlighting one of the amazing staff members who helps make MDC feel like a second home for our dancers and families.

Whether you’ve been with us all season long or are just catching up on the latest studio moments, we’re so happy you’re here. Thank you for continuing to grow, support, and dance alongside us each week. Your love and energy are what make MDC such a special place.

MOMMY & ME BARRE

On May 9th, MDC welcomed our dance moms for a special Mommy & Me Barre class dedicated to celebrating the incredible women who support our dancers every step of the way. From early mornings and late-night rehearsals to competition weekends and recital days, our moms are truly the heart of the MDC family.

Led by our very own instructor Ms. Thalia, this year’s Mommy & Me Barre class gave moms the chance to step into the studio, break a sweat, and enjoy a fun and uplifting experience alongside their little ones. The room was filled with laughter, encouragement, and special moments shared between moms and dancers.

We were also excited to have Kendra Scott join us for the event, giving moms the opportunity to browse beautiful jewelry pieces and treat themselves to something special. Between dancing, shopping, and spending quality time together, it was the perfect morning to celebrate the amazing moms who do so much for our dancers each and every day.

Thank you again to all of the wonderful moms who joined us. We are beyond grateful for your endless love, support, and dedication to MDC!

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! 🎬✨

One of the most memorable events hosted by Motion Dance Center this season was our special Mommy & Me Barre Class in collaboration with Kendra Scott

The morning brought mothers and daughters together for a joyful barre experience filled with movement, laughter, and meaningful moments side by side. From the first warm-up to the final pose, the studio was filled with smiles, energy, and the kind of memories families will cherish long after the season ends. It was a beautiful reminder that some of the sweetest moments happen when moms get to step into their dancer’s world for a day.

After class, guests enjoyed a thoughtfully curated shopping experience featuring stunning floral arrangements by Event by OVA, sweet treats from Street by Treats, delicious matcha from TOMO, and pieces from Kendra Scott’s newest jewelry collection including the fan favorite Ballet Gold Short Pendant Necklace, the perfect keepsake to remember such a special morning.

Even more meaningful, the collaboration supported a greater purpose. Through the Kendra Scott Foundation Sports Fund, 1% of revenue from the Fashion Jewelry Sports Pendants collection is donated to help support and fund youth sports programs, allowing the impact of the event to extend far beyond the studio walls.

It was a morning full of connection, community, and a little extra sparkle everything that makes the MDC family so special.

MRS. KAREN Deffner!

An extraordinary leader in the dance world, Mrs. Deffner’s journey is truly inspiring. From a young age, her passion and love for dance have guided her every step of the way, shaping her into the accomplished dancer, choreographer, mentor, and studio owner she is today. Her dedication, creativity, and vision ultimately led her to open the doors of Motion Dance Center here in Houston in 2018, creating a space where dancers are encouraged to grow, dream big, and feel at home.

Mrs. Deffner pours her heart into everything she does. Through her leadership, hard work, and endless commitment, she has built more than just an incredible training environment; she has created a family and a community that so many dancers, parents, and staff are proud to be part of. She continuously inspires her students and peers both inside and outside of the studio, leading with kindness, passion, strength, and grace. Whether she’s teaching in the classroom, supporting her dancers backstage, or encouraging those around her, Mrs. Deffner always gives her all to everyone around her.

Her impact on the MDC family is truly immeasurable, and Motion Dance Center would not be the same without her. Thank you, Mrs. Deffner, for your vision, your love, and the countless ways you inspire our dancers, families, staff, and community every single day. We are so grateful to celebrate you today and always!
